MADRID, 15 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, warned this Wednesday the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, and “all those involved in the genocide” of the Palestinian population that they will have to “account for every drop of blood they shed” in the Gaza Strip.
“We will be there to hold the perpetrators of genocide accountable before the law. Do not think that Israel will stay in Gaza. If this ferocious state is not stopped, this terrorist state, sooner or later they will set their sights on Anatolia with the illusion of a promised land,” Erdogan has warned.
“The fact that the Zionist murderers and their henchmen are targeting us is not something we should fear or shy away from, but a badge of honor that we will proudly wear on our chest,” Erdogan stated, defending Turkey’s treatment of “the injured from Palestine.”
In this context, the Turkish president, highly critical of Israel, has affirmed that Ankara “continues to support” the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in its struggle “for the independence of their own lands,” according to information gathered by the Turkish news agency Anatolia.
Since the outbreak of the war in the Middle East, Erdogan has shown support for the Palestinian cause and has repeatedly advocated the need to reach a ceasefire to end Israel’s attacks, which he has described as “genocidal” and has even compared to Nazi Germany.
Hamas launched a series of attacks against Israel on October 7 that resulted in nearly 1,200 deaths and 240 hostages, prompting the response of the Israeli Army, which launched a bloody military campaign in the Gaza Strip that has already claimed the lives of more than 35,000 people, mostly women and children.
