Considered one of the “heavyweights” of the United States Department of State, José W. Fernández, Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment, will arrive in Lima accompanied by an important business delegation, visiting Peru, a key country in the Western Hemisphere.
Sources from the US Embassy in Lima reported that the visit is scheduled for August 28 and 29. He will participate in a series of dialogues on the economic, investment and infrastructure environment in Peru with groups convened by the BCIU (Business Council for International Understanding). Also participating will be the Peruvian ambassador in the United States, Alfredo Ferrero, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Peruvian officials from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum.
Under Secretary Fernández and Ambassador Ferrero will join in the commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the Trade Promotion Agreement between Peru and the United States.
Under Secretary Fernández will join Ambassador Syptak-Ramnath and Ambassador Ferrero in discussions with officials from the ministries of Economy and Finance, Energy and Mines, Foreign Trade and Tourism, and Transportation and Communications to highlight the benefits of bilateral cooperation. The senior US official will also participate in a roundtable with the US Department of Agriculture on the intersection of clean energy and sustainable agriculture.
In Lima, Fernández concludes a tour that previously included Argentina and Ecuador. (JAC).
